At &FLUENCE, we believe that successful negotiation starts with one simple insight: without trust, there is no deal. While this may sound obvious, reality often proves otherwise.

That’s why we offer negotiation training for both private and public organizations, with a strong focus on moving away from fixed positions and embracing shared interests. This includes our work with the Rijksacademie, where we train national and financial trainees, as well as other civil servants, to negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders—a common requirement in their field. When everyone speaks the same “language,” the chances of reaching mutually beneficial outcomes significantly increase.

In our training sessions, we use a variety of models to bring structure to negotiations and to identify and avoid common pitfalls. For example, preparation accounts for 70% of a negotiation. That may sound like a lot, but experience shows that thorough preparation encompasses more than many initially realize. These insights give our participants the tools they need to feel comfortable and perform effectively—both now and later in their careers.

In our own simulations, participants experience how quickly trust can be tested under pressure. They explore their own behavioral patterns: how do they respond when the stakes are high at the negotiation table? They also learn the power of setting ground rules in advance—such as how to proceed if talks stall or when it’s best to focus first on the relationship. Because agreements on content are often possible—until one party emotionally shuts down. What do you do then? &FLUENCE has an answer.

&FLUENCE shows that negotiation is not a one-off event but a fluid process that continues long after the deal is signed. The signing simply opens the door to a new round of negotiation. In addition to our negotiation training, we also offer several other programs at the Rijksacademie, including trainings on dialogue, stakeholder management, and results-oriented working. Our trainings are interactive, practical, and rooted in our philosophy.
