Bio

Maarten has a background in Dutch and international law. The first seventeen years of his career were spent in the public sector: first as a diplomat stationed in locations such as Brussels, Washington D.C., and Afghanistan, and later as a policy advisor to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. After moving to the private sector as Global Director of Public Affairs for HEINEKEN Company, he is now Head of Strategy at &FLUENCE.

Together with Tim Masselink, he wrote the book "Toponderhandelaars" (Top Negotiators). He is also vice chairman of the jury of the National Negotiation Award. In addition, Maarten is a visiting lecturer at the MBA program of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in the United States and at the Negotiation Program of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
