&FLUENCE Managing Director Tim Masselink recently joined BNR Nieuwsradio and Radio Een Vandaag to discuss the peace deal between Israel and Hamas signed by President Trump. From his negotiation perspective, Tim explained how these types of complex agreements generally come about in different phases.
He talked about how the first phase is about reaching a rough agreement, followed by a second phase involving coalition building and public recognition. But the real work only begins in the third phase: implementation, detailed negotiations, and creating support among the constituencies.
According to Tim, a sustainable peace agreement requires not only diplomatic skills but especially strategic leadership, patience, and careful execution.
